The urbanisation of Rio Mar is an area located on the Mediterranean coast, about 13 km south of Torrevieja and 5 km north of Pilar de la Horadada.
Being such a central location adjacent to Mil Palmeras, Rio Mar has become a very popular village both in summer and winter.
Here you find one of the coast’s best beaches that have lifeguards during the high season from the Red Cross and local Pilar de la Horadada Ayuntamiento.
Alicante and San Javier airports are both easily reachable via the motorway between Alicante and Cartagena.
Also available are good bus links with Alicante and Cartagena that passes through Rio Mar and Mil Palmeras.
A short walk away in Mil Palmeras there are shops, pharmacy, bars and restaurants, on Sundays there is a local market that offer fresh vegetables / fruits, clothes, shoes etc.
If golf is of interest you have Villamartin Championship course, Las Ramblas, Campoamoar, Las Colinas and Lo Romero golf courses all only 10 minutes away by car.
